Image Upscaler 2×
Increase real image detail with local Swin2SR inference.
About this tool
Image Upscaler enlarges a raster image to twice its original width and height with a local Swin2SR model. Unlike a basic resize filter, the model estimates plausible detail while preserving the overall composition. It is useful for small web graphics, older compressed images and photos that need a larger export, but it cannot recover information that was never captured.
When it is useful
- Create a larger copy of a small image for a presentation.
- Improve the appearance of moderately compressed web images.
- Prepare a higher-resolution draft before cropping or layout work.
How to use it
- Choose a supported image with a clearly visible subject.
- Start the 2× enhancement and keep the page open.
- Compare texture, edges and colors in the preview.
- Download the enhanced copy only if it looks better than the original.
Quality and privacy notes
Faces, lettering and repeated patterns deserve close inspection because any super-resolution model may invent texture. Processing is local and may be slow on mobile devices. The exported image is larger in pixels and can also be larger in file size.
Important limits
- It is a 2× model, not unlimited enlargement.
- Severely blurred or tiny sources remain limited.
- Generated detail should not be treated as documentary evidence.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as sharpening?
No. A trained super-resolution model is used, although it still estimates rather than restores missing detail.
Will text become perfectly readable?
Not necessarily. Very small or damaged text can be altered by the model.
